She has over 25 years of specialised knowledge in areas of business valuation, intangibles, IFRS, etc. She has carried out valuations for arbitration and disputes, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory-based valuations involving regulators such as SEBI, RBI, the High Court, income tax, etc. 

Prior to joining BDO in India, Lata was associated with a leading consulting firm and was heading Corporate Finance Advisory Services. She had represented the firm in providing a recommendation on the Companies Act, 2013 to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. 

She has carried out valuations across sectors such as telecommunication, BFSI, information technology, power and infrastructure, retail, travel and leisure, FMCG, distilleries and breweries, etc. In the area of intangible asset valuations, she has carried out brand valuations of retail, media, pharma, and liquor majors in India, technical know-how, licenses for technology companies, etc. 

Lata has represented before the domestic and international arbitration panels as an expert witness for various corporations and supported counsel for cross-examination of counterparty valuations, etc. She has undertaken more than 1,000 valuations in her career. She has hands-on experience in the implementation of mergers and de-mergers and has worked on financial engineering, restructuring of sick companies, M&A transactions, and deal advisory. She has also successfully carried out some of the landmark due diligence assignments for takeovers and investments by corporate and private equity investors across industries, both in the private and public sectors.
